This entails varied acts of service that honor every level of your being—body, mind, and spirit. You cannot give from an empty cup—love yourself fiercely, and you'll overflow with abundance in every area of life.
The physical aspect of holistic self-care goes far beyond eating well and exercising. You body is an amazing temple infused will billions of nerve endings. You're greatest physical power is your sensuality—your ability to feel.
When you embrace your sensuality, you enhance your ability to experience ALL forms of pleasure. Food tastes better, music sounds better, flowers smell sweeter, your sheets feels softer, and see more beauty in everything.
Daily hygiene can be seamlessly transformed into self-adoration—a simple bath becomes a goddess bath, a body scrub becomes exfoliating self-massage, moisturizing your skin becomes a self-blessing, a yoni steam becomes a self-love meditation...you get the picture!
Mental self-care honors both your thought atmosphere and your emotions—both valid parts of who you are.
Feelings aren't facts, but they definitely serve a high purpose. Your emotions inform you as to whether you're in alignment with your highest values or not.
When they are triggered you know that something is off, and that you may need to make some adjustments to ensure that you stay on your unique path.
Avoid people-pleasing, and do not allow other people's opinions to invalidate your feelings. When in doubt, always follow your gut—this strengthens your helps with authentic self-expression, and increases your self-worth.
Be intentional about the though atmosphere you create with every passing moment. What types of things do you read, watch, listen to, focus on?
What about the character of the people you surround yourself with? Are they positive? Are they supporting your highest values? Do they encourage, inspire and lift you up?
Keep in mind that what you focus on increases. If you want more love, peace, and acceptance—avoid gossip, judgment, and bad news. Everything you perceive (consciously or not) is a seed sewn into the soil of your thought atmosphere.
Your life will always reflect the seeds you sew. Do like the harvest? Think a new thought—sew a new seed.
Spiritual self-care means maintaining a strong connected to the universal life-force that pulses through every cell in your body. When you take a breath, be present and know that you are filling your lungs with life itself.
Daily practices to maintain spiritual wellness can be affirmations, meditation, prayer, yoga, journaling, divination, crystal therapy, self-blessings, chakra therapy, reiki, and self-reiki treatment to name a few.
You don't have to be sit in the lotus position chanting mantras for an hour to meditate. Get creative and and find a style that resonates with you.
Here are some styles to try: guided meditation, moving meditation (dancing, walking, jogging), spiritual baths, yoni steaming, etc.
The key is to be fully present while honoring the highest expression of who you are. You'll never shut your thoughts off, but you can shift your awareness away from them by being present—the human body is so useful for this.
The best way to get out of your head is to get into your body. Whether you're seated on a mediation pillow, relaxing in the tub, or driving to work—simply become aware of your breath, and enjoy the gift of peace in that moment.
When you take care of yourself, you'll naturally feel good. When you feel good, your self-worth increases on its own.
